Years ago, when I began teaching middle school, I was looking for a play for my students to perform, but I was unable to find something that would hold the interest level of  that squirmy-aged actor and audience member while still being school-appropriate. Later in my career, I found myself at a high school with no performance space and, therefore, no ability to produce elaborate sets or lighting. I solved both these problems by writing plays of my own that would suit my students' interests and needs.

Here, you will find plays specifically designed for student actors and audiences--although many are suitable for adult performers and general audiences as well. The shows are simple and inexpensive to produce with no elaborate sets or lighting required. They are either female-heavy or gender neutral in casting and provide an opportunity for ensemble work for medium to large casts.
